ComplexCon is the First “Cultural World’s Fair” for this Generation, Blending Pop Culture, Art, Music, Food, Style and Sports
Prolific Contemporary Artist Takashi Murakami to Design Event’s Brand Identity, Joins as First Host Committee Member of 12 To Be Announced
(May 10, 2016 - New York, NY) Millennial juggernaut COMPLEX announced today the launch of ComplexCon, the first ever Cultural World’s Fair created to bring together pop culture, art, music, food, style and sports. The first of its kind event will take place in Long Beach, CA November 5-6, 2016.
Created for consumers, ComplexCon will serve as a celebration of everything that is COMPLEX – an ultimate festival experience complete with concerts, shopping, panels and conversations, art, food and much more. Daytime events will cover everything from shopping to food (and more) while evening festivities will be centered around music performances and experiences – all to be curated by a select annual host committee. As the most relevant voice in pop culture, COMPLEX is uniquely qualified to bring this experience to life.
ReedPOP, the producers of New York’s Comic-Con and Agenda, have partnered with COMPLEX to create a unique event that will bring together a consumer experience carefully curated by the most influential minds in the world to life.
Internationally prolific contemporary artist Takashi Murakami has joined as the first Host Committee member for the event. He is responsible for designing the event’s brand identity and will lend his oversight to the overall design and aesthetic experience. "I'm a huge fan of Complex and especially like how they provide me a daily fix of posts on a certain hip-hop artist...When Marc Ecko approached me about being on the host committee, I met with him in their office on 50th street and felt firsthand the good vibe and untamed, youthful energy they possess,” says Murakami. “It was that spirit that led me to participate in the project. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun! I hope it will turn into something crazy!"
“COMPLEX is about celebrating and this generation’s voices and creatives. We wanted to bring the spirit and energy of our brand to life, beyond just the internet,” says Marc Ecko, Founder and Chief Brand Officer. “That is what ComplexCon is about. It is an experiential vision of the future. Our audience, and all the contributors that shape our shared universe of content are some of the most influential people in the world. Period. We want to celebrate them, and create a platform to creatively push ourselves as a collective into the future – constantly elevating and re-imagining our horizons. That is what this is all about.”
